Mackenzie Updates

This has been by far the FASTEST year. With all of our travels, and our little girl being on the go-go go, it's been hard enough just catching up. The past year just flew by us and our little one is ONE.

Minnie Mouse Outfit: Amazon $20

After the last World Series game we attended, we got back to the hotel and started loading our bags to head home and all of a sudden Mackenzie started walking! On her own! We didn't try to make her, or bribe her, she just was playing with her cousin and got up and started walking down the hallway.  It was definitely a special moment and TOTALLY unexpected.

Loves: Mackenzie loves music. She will point to Alexa and say "exa" in hopes of us turning music on. When you say "Alexa," she gets this huge smile on her face- it's so darn cute how excited she gets.  Then once the tunes come on she starts waving her arms and dancing to the beat.

She also LOVES her puppy dogs. She doesn't quite know how to be more gentle with them though. She wants to love on them and they don't quite know how to handle all the loving. She hugs them and puts all her weight on them so it's a little bit much for them right now, but they love her.

Not a fan of: Diaper changes. For some reason she feels the need to fight me. And the strength this tiny human has is insane! It's like a wrestling match to change her diaper. She now has learned to take the pretty pictures that hang over her changing table, so now those are on the floor. Let's just say, I feel like I need a nap after changing her. It's exhausting.

Feeding: This girl loves to eat! She also is enjoying feeding herself and has even tried grabbing the spoon to do it herself. She is one quick learner! Her favorite food is mac and cheese and she loves her vegetables! Especially green beans and broccoli. Anytime someone has a plate, she loves to make her way over to them and try to sneak a bite!

Mackenzie is officially sleeping through the night- although it's been a few weeks now. She now sleeps 11-12 hours. She used to wake up once per night, I'd give her about 4 oz. of a bottle and she'd fall back to sleep. I thought I was going to have to do that long term, but luckily she grew out of it and just learned to sleep through the night somehow. HAPPY MOM right here!  She only naps once a day now, which is a little rough, but I will take her sleeping through the night over napping.

Stats: At her one year checkup, she was weighing in at 20 lbs 13.5 oz and is 30 inches in length. She is in the 78th percentile for height, and 66th percentile for weight.

Favorite Toys: She has a few favorites! She currently loves:

  • Her Adora baby doll- she LOVES giving her a bottle. It's so precious to watch her and give her baby doll kisses. (Which are RARE by the way. She rarely gives anyone kisses, so when she does- those are PRECIOUS moments indeed! She also loves pushing her baby doll in a stroller.
  • Her taco truck. This was such a fun gift from her grandparents. She loves pressing the buttons and pretending to take orders and make food. She will hand us the "smoothies," "burgers" and "tacos" but she'll take them apart and hand them to us! IT's pretty dang cute.
  • Her shopping cart. She loves adding things to it, taking stuff out and walking it around while it pops the popcorn. It's fun to watch her play with it.

Mackenzie is obsessed with clocks. Everywhere we go she points them out. Even watches. She even found a clock in a book and pointed it out. Needless to say she got a lot of clock-related gifts for her birthday.

I still cannot believe how fast this year FLEW by! It's so fun watching this little human that's half me and half my husband and seeing her personality develop. Mackenzie is so fun and exhausting all at the same time, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Thank you for all the love and comments! We enjoy sharing a little glimspe into our world and our sweet little girl with you! I've always felt like our little blog community is family and am so thankful for you! I hope you have a GREAT week and make sure to get out and vote today if you haven't already!

Friday Vibes

WOW is this year flying by or what? I now have a  O N E  - Y E A R  - O L D  which we celebrated at the beginning of the month, it's nearing the END of October, and Baseball season is ALMOST over. Didn't it JUST start?

Time Slow Down.

I just feel like I can't catch up with anything right now. The laundry piles up, I still haven't completely unpacked from any of our travels. It seems like we are gone every weekend, which is great and all, but I am in serious need of a vacation.

So the Dodgers made it to the WORLD SERIES and we are getting ready to head down to LA for the weekend to attend the games. If you want to follow along on my weekend feel free to checkout my insta stories because I will be documenting pretty much my entire weekend. (and snapchat probably too!) It's going to be INSANE.

So the fam bam and I got shirts to support my brother-in-law from 500 LEVEL
We chose to go with the FLORO51 shirts the first game.. because SO CUTE.

We also got Kenzie bug this GO LA with Dylans face on it, which I think is HILARIOUS, and not going to lie.. I kinda want this one for myself.

Shop Here.

There's so many fun designs, I want them all.

Of course they have other players designs too, but I think I will stick to Floro. I may be biased! Ha. Part of the #FloroFanClub here!

I also made this design for my deices sweatshirt.

Showered With Design

Anyways, this is what my weekend will consist of. Baseball, baseball, and more baseball! It's bittersweet that the season is practically over, but It will be nice to have some free weekends ahead.. and my husband back! (Except now football will take over! But at least he can watch that from TV and doesn't go to the games.)

Are you a baseball fan? Who are you rooting for to win the World Series?

Mackenzie's First Birthday

We celebrated our little girl turning ONE YEAR OLD on Saturday. I still cannot believe a whole year flew by since we first met her. She has been the best GIFT to my husband and I. We just love her so much!

I started planning her first birthday a few months in advance. I knew I wanted to make my own decorations and really make it personalized. Since she was born, I made her "symbol" a lady bug.

Long story short, I have always felt like she "saved" us. If I hadn't been pregnant last year in 2017, with my due date being October 2nd, my husband and I would have attended the Route 91 Music Festival in Las Vegas, which is where the Las Vegas shooting took place. I truly believe she had saved our lives.

So I made her symbol a lady bug because she is our "good luck" charm. Ever since she was born I've signed her name with a little lady bug next to it. (We also call her "Kenzie Bug") So I felt like it just fit perfectly and decided to make her first birthday theme a lady bug theme. I know not everyone knows the story of why I gave her the symbol, but it is sentimental to me and always will be.

Party Time

We had the party start at noon thinking she would have had her morning nap and been in a good mood by the time people arrived, but she was much too interested in what we were doing. It was almost like she wanted to get this party started!

Guests started arriving and we were a little scrambled getting appetizers finished, but everything ended up turning out great.  We did, however, forget to bring out the fruit and vegetable tray until an hour after it started and we completely and TOTALLY forgot to bring out the 7-layer dip. (oops!) So we ended up devouring it days after the party. Total fail on our part! Oh well!

We hired a taco guy, because who doesn't love tacos? And it made our lives so much easier by not having to worry about the main course. And they were of course DELICIOUS.

Mackenzie ended up falling asleep after the party started, so I put her down for a nap and she ended up sleeping a good hour. Which is when I finally got to sit down and enjoy some tacos and appetizers. (YUM!) I also served margaritas because I figured they went perfect with tacos. I made labels for the drinks and of course forgot to put them out so one of my girlfriends accidentally served her 5 year old a few sips of margarita. (Another oops on my part). So definitely will make sure to label the drinks next time.

We had about 66 invitees and around 45 showed up. It was a good turnout and I was able to spend time with people I hadn't seen in a while. I tried making my rounds before Mackenzie woke up and I couldn't quite make it around to everyone and spend as much time with them like I had hoped, but overall I think I did pretty well considering it was a busy day.  Once Mackenzie woke up, I took her around to greet her party guests since she didn't get to see everyone before she fell asleep.

After making rounds, we wanted to start her cake smash. We didn't realize the bakery would give her a free cake smash cake so I ended up making one. Which is the one we used. (We also forgot to take the one they gave us out of the fridge to soften the frosting, so it was a good thing I made one! Can you tell I was a little scatterbrained?)

She wasn't quite sure what to do with the cake at first and why so many people were standing around her, so I started putting some frosting in her mouth so she could get a taste. She still wasn't sure what the heck was going on so my husband started smashing her hands on top of the cake, then she started getting the hang of it. After a little while, my husband took the cake and shoved it in her face. She definitely does not like to get her hands or face messy that's for sure!

After her cake smash we decided to the cut the ladybug cake. I had my cousin help cut it so I didn't ruin it! She did a fantastic job, by the way (haha.) The cake was so yummy! We ordered it from Beverly's Best Bakery. I chose the top layer to be white cake with raspberry fruit and buttercream and the bottom layer as chocolate with raspberry fruit and buttercream.

Most of the guests left after cake, but a few of my aunts and cousins stayed and of course our parents so we decided to open the gifts. My goodness she is so loved! She received some really awesome presents and we are still trying to open the packaging on them. (They sure do package those things like crazy Am I right?)

Her Birthday was so much fun despite all the work and energy it took to put it on.  I think she had a lot of fun spending time with everyone, eating cake, and opening her presents. She got a lot of "Clock" gifts since she is obsessed with clocks. (Everywhere we go she points them out!) What a fun day it was!

Evolur Voyager Stroller Review

My husband and I are frequent travelers, and if you've been following me for a while then you know it's mostly Baseball related. We travel to my brother in laws games quite often during baseball season. Now that we have our little bundle of joy, we needed a good travel stroller that was lightweight enough to travel with while also being easy to maneuver through an airport. We used to take our large stroller with us, and while it's a great sturdy stroller with a lot of room for storage, it is more bulky and wasn't the easiest to fold up and take with us.

I've been lucky enough to work with Evolur on numerous occasions after meeting them at a Baby Show in 2017. I initially fell in love with their furniture and ended up purchasing the Windsor Adora curved top crib, dresser and changing topper but what stood out to me the most was their customer service. I was offered the opportunity to test out their Voyager Stroller and couldn't say, "Yes" fast enough. I already love their furniture products, how could I not love their new stroller?

Opening the box

When the delivery arrived, I was surprised at how small the box was. I remember thinking, "There is No way a stroller fits in here." Much to my surprise, the stroller was folded up super small and perfectly packaged. I thought I was going to have to assemble it like the rest of our baby gear. Thankfully, I was wrong. This was the easiest item to open and it was already assembled.

My Favorite Features

What mom ever has two hands available to fold a stroller? This stroller has a One-hand quick-fold design. Having this feature is a huge bonus, especially when you're hands are full with a baby. It has an easy to use button located right on the handlebar and folds super compact which is essential for travel. It an fit anywhere! I even used it in the overhead bin on an airplane. I also love that it stands upright when folded, instead of falling to the floor. Which makes it easy to set down if needed without having to reach all the way to the floor.

I also love that it is lightweight weighing less than 12 lbs. The Voyager stroller comes with a detachable Bumper Guard/Toting Handle which my little girl loves to hold onto while going for a stroll. When you fold the stroller, you can use this handle for easy, comfortable carrying.

The stroller comes in two colors. I chose the grey as it is very gender neutral and we don't know what our next baby will be-when that time comes.

The bottom storage compartment is large enough to carry snacks, drinks, toys, and any other goodies you don't want to keep in your diaper bag.

So far I have used this stroller on our daily walks as well as at the airport. Let me tell you, people through airport security were AMAZED at how small the stroller folded to go through screening. Needless to say, this is THE stroller for you if you are a frequent traveler. What's not to love about a sturdy stroller that folds up this small with ease?

Why You Need This Stroller

-Perfect for travel

-Lightweight and Compact

-Easy to carry

-Easy to manuever

-Easy to Open up & fold down

This stroller would be a great item to gift for a Baby Shower. Every mom needs a lightweight travel stroller that's easy to use and lightweight yet sturdy. Those are hard to come by (and I've tested and shopped around for strollers often. I love finding THE best and easiest to use.) This stroller is hands down my favorite travel stroller.

What is YOUR favorite feature of the Voyager Stroller?

Labor Day Weekend Recap

Happy Monday Tuesday friends!

Why is it that long weekends seem to go by so much faster? And shorter work weeks seem to go by slower. We drove up to the river late Friday evening after my cousins football game. Luckily we missed the traffic and it only took us about 3 hours to get there. This was Kenzies second river trip and she sure had fun! She just loves the water so I knew she would enjoy it as much as we do!

Friday night football game
We hung out by the water all day. Kenzie had fun watching the other kids and playing in the kiddie pool too! The weather was perfect and the water was so refreshing!

She also enjoyed "driving" the golf cart.

On Sunday, it was our friends moms birthday so they were passing around Jell-O shots as I was feeding Kenzie, so they snapped this photo of me. Multitasking mom life. haha!

My husband and I got up pretty early on Monday to head home because we didn't want to get stuck in ridiculous traffic. A 3 hour drive could easily turn into an 8 hour miserable drive so we wanted to avoid that as much as possible. We stopped by at In N Out on the way home. It had been way too long since I've devoured a double double, fries and a shake. It was the perfect end to a fun weekend!

How did you spend your Labor Day Weekend?

How is it possible that my sweet babe is... 10 months old?

Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday she was born and put into my arms, where I couldn't see what she looked like yet because she was placed under my chin, but all I could care about was keeping her warm and the cuddles. I shared my birth story on my other blog, and I plan to get it going on this blog too.

Over the past 10 months, Mackenzie Nicole has developed a little personality of her own.  She is the happiest baby, loves to eat, loves to play and be around people. She now wants to climb the stairs, couch, and anything she can.

I also have NO IDEA how anyone can get the monthly photos with them laying down. I tried and this was the best we got. She just does not want to sit still, or be on her back. So props to you mamas that can accomplish this with a not so squirmy baby.

It also just dawned on me that her first birthday is now only two months away. So, this past weekend I got started on making decorations for her party. We chose to do lady bug theme which fits so perfectly because a lady bug is the symbol I use when I sign her name, and she has really been a lucky charm for us. My husband and I would have been at that Route 91 festival in October if I hadn't been pregnant so I've really felt like she saved me. It still freaks me out when I think about it.

On Friday evening my husband, Kenzie and I went to the Dodger game to support her Uncle Dylan. The Dodgers haven't played the Astros since the World Series last year so this was a huge game! It was pretty crowded and so many celebrities were at the Stadium.  From James Bateman to Hunter Hayes. Once the game ended, we waited for Uncle D to come out so we could grab some food. We ended up eating pretty late at Yardhouse and drove home. We were so exhausted. We had originally planned to go to the beach Saturday morning but decided to sleep in instead.

On Saturday Morning we grabbed breakfast before my hubby and Kenzie went back to LA for the Dodger game. Which I was pretty excited to be able to clean the house and really get started on her Birthday decorations. I made some banners, her high chair banner, and a few tutus. I'm not quite done with them yet but here are some progress photos below.  I feel so much better that I got a head start. Once less thing to stress out about.

I will also work on getting some tutorials for these too because they really were not difficult or as time consuming as I thought they would be. I have a feeling the end result will be so cute and I can't wait to get photos of everything. I will make sure to have some downloads for you guys to use yourself too. I am also working on getting her tutu made for her 1st Birthday Cake smash photos, which I JUST booked on Saturday. I know these two months will fly by and I don't want to leave out any details!

On Sunday we took Kenzie swimming at my parents. She hadn't gone for a swim in a few weeks so it was a little overdue! She just loves the water. Plus it tired her out so she was able to take a good nap. Overall, it was a good and productive weekend with some fun mixed in! The perfect kind of weekend in my eyes.

Things I am Looking Forward to This Week:
1. Receiving my Lipsense order from Lips and Legos. So excited to get some new colors and try out the lip
2. Getting more decorations done for her first Birthday
3. Receiving a gate/play pen we ordered on Amazon. It will help keep her away from the stairs and we will be able to block her from certain areas when we need to. Which is a totally must for a babe who is constantly on the move!

How did you spend your weekend? Have you gotten anything done that you've been putting off for a while? What are you looking forward to this week?

*Linking up with Biana for Weekend Recap
